An estimated 800,000 cars are in use in Dubai on a daily basis. The effects of this for both the environment and the economy are severe.

According to the RTA, traffic congestion causes a loss of an estimated Dhs 4.6 billion annually.

With 350,000 trips being made every hour during Dubai’s six rush hours, traffic problems are the number one reason for late attendance and meetings. And who can blame Dubai’s public for this? With a 15 minute delay for every 25 minute journey during rush hour, the problems caused by traffic look sure to continue for the next 3 years or so until Dubai’s road systems are improved.
However, corporate clients do not need to wait for 3 years to overcome these problems. By setting up a corporate car sharing scheme, the company can become more efficient by:

• Reducing the number of cars travelling to the office.

• Reducing the number of car parking spaces required.

• Increasing employee responsibility of getting into work on time.

• Increase productivity by encouraging informal work discussion to and from work.

• Increase integration between departments by promoting car sharing throughout the company.
